Battle of the Books
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS 2024-25
Battle of the Books is a fun, voluntary program for 3rd through 5th graders which encourages them to read age-appropriate books and come together toward the end of the year to test their knowledge of what they've read in an exciting "battle" of the books.
Third graders need to read a minimum of 8 out of 18 titles (click here for full list) and 4th/5th graders need to read a minimum of 15 out of 28 titles (click here for full list) to be eligible to participate in the battles in March.
To prepare your students for the March "battles," we will convene mini bookclub sessions during lunch twice a month where we will discuss books, answer questions and review the battle format.
We are seeking parent volunteers to help run these "lunchtime sessions" so be sure to express your interest in the registration forms (see links below).
The goal is to convene the first lunchtime session in late September. At this session, third graders will discuss "The Boxcar Children" by Gertrude Warner and 4th/5th graders will discuss "Sideways Stories from Wayside School" by Louis Sachar.
Book lists and additional program info is available on the registration form, Tulita App and Tulita PTA website. Questions? Contact Cari Lesser or Courtney Blacklidge at [email protected].
Happy reading!
