Dear Tulita Families,
I am honored and humbled to be appointed as the new principal of Tulita Elementary School and a member of the Tidalwave team. I look forward to joining a community with a well-deserved reputation of serving its students with high-quality instruction and earning the highest of recognition for its academic excellence.
I started my journey in education at Adams Middle School as a social studies teacher and then served as the TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment), working with our identified Title I students. For two years after that, I served as an elementary assistant principal in RBUSD, at both Alta Vista and Washington. While serving at the elementary level, I had the opportunity to support teachers as we worked to ensure students had the foundational building blocks of the early stages of their academic and social development. I also had the privilege to partner with teachers to develop a culture of inclusivity and an attitude that every student can learn and thrive academically.
Tulita is an excellent school. Simple as that. It is a gem in the South Bay and this is largely due in part to the staff’s dedication, community engagement, whole-child focus, and…ability to have fun! I share those values with you, and together, we will continue this outstanding work to provide our students with a safe and enriching environment, where they will develop a passion for learning and grow to be critical thinkers.
Whether in the LiveWell garden, engaging in MindUp activities, or bringing content to life with the annual Walk through the Revolution activity, we know that engaged students learn and grow. I share this value with you, and together we will continue (y)our outstanding work to educate our children in a safe and enriching environment where they can develop a love of learning.
I would be remiss in not addressing the challenges we will inevitably face as we return for the 2021-2022 school year. As educators, we understand that we will need to remove barriers and provide intervention to ensure that all students will be able to thrive, learn, and experience success. I couldn’t be more excited to lead these efforts and to see our amazing staff rise to the challenge, as we meet the needs of every Tulita student.
As I assume my new role as principal, I look forward to collaborating and building strong relationships with all stakeholders to provide the best possible learning experience for our students. Please know that my door is always open, and I encourage you to reach out with questions, concerns, or just a friendly hello for the new principal. When school resumes, I will host a Coffee with the Principal, so we have a chance to meet in person. With your support, I look forward to a great 2021-2022 school year!
