Principal's Message

Dear Tulita Families,

It’s time to officially kick off the 2023-2024 school year! I am so excited to begin this year as your new principal. Now that summer is winding down, I hope you reflect upon your 2023 summer as one that was filled with rest, relaxation, and fun with your loved ones. For those of you who are new to Tulita, I offer the warmest welcome and for those of you returning, welcome back! Each and every one of your students will be surrounded with the highest caliber, sincerely dedicated, and incredibly talented faculty and staff at Tulita. It truly is a special place!

This summer, the staff has been working diligently to plan and prepare for our second year of the newly adopted ELA curriculum. We will also be introducing a new Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum called Second Step. I’m excited to see our excellent teachers implement these in the classrooms as they will further support the already stellar learning environment established at Tulita.

While many of us have enjoyed the break, Mr. Padilla and Mr. Medina have been working hard this summer to deep clean the classrooms and our school. They have dedicated the last couple months to make sure our school is a place we all take pride in. Please join me in thanking them for their hard work this summer in making Tulita shine!

Over the summer there have been a couple changes to our staff. The wonderful Ms. Kristen Pate has taken a leave this year, but we are hopeful she will return to the Tulita family next school year. We are welcoming a new counselor, Mr. Josh Baysa. I am also thrilled to welcome two new TK teachers, Ms. Holly Hodges and Mrs. Maureen Raynor. Ms. Hodges comes to us from Santa Monica and Mrs. Raynor comes to us from LAUSD. I am confident you will all welcome and show them how wonderful Tulita is, just as you have with me.

The theme of this school year will be “Together we are Tulita.” We are only Tulita and all that that encompasses if we are working together. There is not one single person that is a part of the Tulita family that doesn’t add invaluable contributions to our school community. Parents, students, families, PTA, RBEF, Tulita faculty and staff, RBUSD, CDC, community members: together, we make the magic happen. We must continue to all support each other so that we can provide the best possible whole child experience for Tulita students.

There are so many ways to play an even more active part in this togetherness. Ask how you can support our teachers and show them how much they are appreciated. Become involved and join the PTA to lend your time and talents. Consider donating to Redondo Beach Education Foundation (RBEF) so that the incredible benefits all available to all RBUSD students can continue and grow. Monetary donations aren’t the only way to support our school and our district. Give your time or give your skills because we are Tulita together.

I can’t wait to meet all of you and launch a great school year together. Please feel free to stop in and see me or e-mail/call if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your commitment to the Tulita community. Remember, it’s all of us together.

See you soon!

Sincerely,

Alexandra Glunt, Principal
