What is First Lego League?

Core Values:  The FIRST® LEGO® League Core Values are the cornerstones of the FLL program. They are among the fundamental elements that distinguish FLL from other programs of its kind. By embracing the Core Values, participants learn that friendly competition and mutual gain are not separate goals, and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.

FIRST® LEGO® League Core Values:
▲ We are a team.
▲ We do the work to find solutions with guidance from our coaches and mentors.
▲ We know our coaches and mentors don’t have all the answers; we learn together.
▲ We honor the spirit of friendly competition.
▲ What we discover is more important than what we win.
▲ We share our experiences with others.
▲ We display Gracious Professionalism® and Cooperattion® in everything we do.
▲ We have FUN!

Robot Game
In the Robot Game, teams design, build, program, and test autonomous robots using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology. The robots are designed and programmed by team members to perform a series of tasks, or missions, during 2½ minute matches on a playing field which reflects the real-world theme for this season.

In the Project, teams research a real-world problem in the field of this season’s Challenge theme. Then they create an innovative solution to that problem (either by creating something that doesn’t exist or building upon something that does). And finally, teams share their findings with others.

First Lego League Mission

"To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders."  - Dean Kamen, Founder

Mission
FLL's mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

Tulita Robowaves Robotics – CALL FOR COACHES!

The Tulita upper grade Robotics team relies on parent volunteers as coaches. Thanks to volunteer parents Hugh Bacher, Jamie Angulo, Jonathan Cole, and Pete Savino, our Robowaves competed and successfully placed in last year’s First Lego League competition. We will be bringing the Robowaves back to Tulita again for the 2017-18 school year and would like to give any parent interested in coaching next year the opportunity to do so. If you are interested, please email Dr. Bruna at tbruna@rbusd.org. For more information about the Robowaves and First Lego League, click here.
