Tulita Elementary School PTA

PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the nation,
National PTA is the conscience of the country for children and youth issues. Through advocacy, as well
as family and community education, National PTA has established programs and called for legislation that
improves our children’s lives.

For more than 100 years, National Parent Teacher Association (National PTA®) has worked toward
bettering the lives of every child in education, health and safety. Founded in 1897 as the National
Congress of Mothers by Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst, National PTA is a powerful
voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public

PTA connects families and schools. By joining PTA you show your children that school matters, and that
you are invested in their success. Your PTA membership gives the California State PTA a voice in
legislation and advocacy. PTA helps ensure that parents have a seat at the table when important
decisions that affect schools are made. PTA works together to improve the education, health and safety
of all children.

Three decades of research proves that students achieve higher grades, have better attendance and more
consistently complete homework when parents are involved – and just the act of joining PTA is a great
way to get involved.

Hello Tulita Families,

I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend! I wanted to thank Robin Jason and highlight her efforts with the Tulita PTA Book Fairs, which she has tirelessly run for the last three years. This year was no exception; in addition to coordinating the entire event, Robin was at Tulita each day of the book fair from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, always with a smile. Thank you very much; your enthusiasm, hard work and energy are deeply appreciated. This year the book fair generated over $10,000 dollars that will used to update the Tulita library and fulfill teacher’s classroom needs.

Thank you to all of the book fair volunteers, including:

Donna Reilly, Al Arizmendez, Mary Clare Scanlon, Emily Marsh, Emma Macleod, Melissa DeChandt, Diana Nelson, Kristin Jacobs, Darice Olds-Mason, Jean Lerner, Janelle Geistlinger, Justine Muus, Hayley Salus, Marilyn Crawford, Annette Alpern, Shelley Schrader, Ali Daly, Beth Brenton, Terry Maggay Wagner, Liz Koutures, Pam Davy, Laurie Stimfig, Bindu Xavier, Laura MacMorran, Tiffany Berger, our clean-up crew: Tinsley Arizmendez, Myles Jason, Christopher McKnight, Angela McKnight, Matthew Mason and Christophe Goeminne.
The book fair would not have been a success without all of your help.

Safely Ever After

The parent component of the Safely Ever After program, “A Little Ounce of Prevention” will be on the evening of October 10th 2014. The 90-minute presentation for parents dispels the myths and clarifies the truths surrounding sexual abuse and abduction, helps parents learn who predators are, what they count on and common tricks that they use to lure children. The presentation provides insight on teaching our children proper safety skills without fear and guidelines on when to start.

Stay tuned for information regarding location.
