Tulita Elementary School PTA

PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the nation,
National PTA is the conscience of the country for children and youth issues. Through advocacy, as well
as family and community education, National PTA has established programs and called for legislation that
improves our children’s lives.

For more than 100 years, National Parent Teacher Association (National PTA®) has worked toward
bettering the lives of every child in education, health and safety. Founded in 1897 as the National
Congress of Mothers by Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst, National PTA is a powerful
voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public

PTA connects families and schools. By joining PTA you show your children that school matters, and that
you are invested in their success. Your PTA membership gives the California State PTA a voice in
legislation and advocacy. PTA helps ensure that parents have a seat at the table when important
decisions that affect schools are made. PTA works together to improve the education, health and safety
of all children.

Three decades of research proves that students achieve higher grades, have better attendance and more
consistently complete homework when parents are involved – and just the act of joining PTA is a great
way to get involved.

The Tulita PTA raises funds that support important programs at Tulita including:
● Educational Assemblies ● Educational Programs ● Scholarships
● Teacher Appreciation ● PTA Sponsored Hospitality ● Hands on Art
● Student/Parent Services ● Field Trips ● Family Events

Story Pirates Visit Tulita!

President's Message

Hello Tulita Families!

I hope that everyone has enjoyed your weekend.

The Tulita PTA touches your child’s life each week; this week the PTA is supporting:

  • Story Pirates, which made the cover of the Beach Reporter! Thank you to Shannon Flaherty for bringing this awesome program to Tulita, PTA Executive Board and Dr. Farzad & staff for their support.
  • Second annual PTA Multicultural Night and International Dress-Up day this Wednesday
  • Yellow Ribbon Week with a kick-off assembly and the kick-off of Yellow Ribbon Week. Thank you Emma Macleod for your leadership.
  • Sea Lab field trip - the remainder of the first grade classes will spend an amazing morning at the Sea Lab field trip this Wednesday with PTA’s support as well.

Thank you Kindergarten parent, Aly Daly for chairing the South Bay Galleria School Rewards Program! Stay tuned for information on how each Tulita family can participate. I would also like to thank all Tulita families who attended the E4T at Ruby’s this past week.

The PTA Multicultural Night is this Wednesday and you do not want to miss this trip around the world! WE NEED POTLUCK items. Please sign up online or outside of your child’s classroom.  Remember to have your child dress up on Wednesday for International Dress Up Day. Please seethe PTA website for additional information including the SignUp Genius link.

The Honorary Service Award (HSA) and Very Special Person (VSP) ballot nomination date has been extended to this Wednesday, January 28th. Please submit your nominations in the ballot box in the office. See the PTA website for additional information and the ballot form.

Many families have asked about the PTA Silent Auction; at this time, the PTA has tentatively decided to move forward with some exciting new fundraising opportunities, including some parent nights out, versus the silent auction due to the large number of volunteers needed to successfully pull off an event the magnitude of the Silent Auction. The Turkey Trot Fundraiser was so successful that we believe that we will be able to support some smaller, innovative fundraising efforts this spring without having to do the Silent Auction. Please stay tuned for updates.

The next PTA Association meeting is this Friday January 30th at 8:30 am in ROOM 6.  Please plan to attend as we need to hear your voice; there are many budget items to be reviewed and voted upon with the PTA Association.

I would like to thank you to each and every Tulita family that supports PTA with a membership and/or volunteer efforts. Your support allows the PTA to bring these types of programs to Tulita.

Have a great week and thank you for making Tulita the special place that it is!
Al Arizmendez, Tulita Elementary PTA President
