Tulita Elementary School PTA

PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the nation,
National PTA is the conscience of the country for children and youth issues. Through advocacy, as well
as family and community education, National PTA has established programs and called for legislation that
improves our children’s lives.

For more than 100 years, National Parent Teacher Association (National PTA®) has worked toward
bettering the lives of every child in education, health and safety. Founded in 1897 as the National
Congress of Mothers by Alice McLellan Birney and Phoebe Apperson Hearst, National PTA is a powerful
voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public

PTA connects families and schools. By joining PTA you show your children that school matters, and that
you are invested in their success. Your PTA membership gives the California State PTA a voice in
legislation and advocacy. PTA helps ensure that parents have a seat at the table when important
decisions that affect schools are made. PTA works together to improve the education, health and safety
of all children.

Three decades of research proves that students achieve higher grades, have better attendance and more
consistently complete homework when parents are involved – and just the act of joining PTA is a great
way to get involved.

Story Pirates Visit Tulita!

President's Message

Hello Tulita Families! I hope that everyone had a great weekend and you are keeping dry!

The Tulita PTA touches your child’s life each week; this week the PTA is supporting:

  • Hands on Art – Mrs. Baumack/Tamashiro’s classroom
  • Conscious Discipline Workshop #5 (Tuesday March 3rd, 6:30 PM)
  • Kinder Tour PTA Hospitality

Good Stuff Restaurant will be displaying Mrs. Baumback & Tamashiro's student's "Valen-Dine's Heart" Hands on Art Projects from 3/02-3/09.  Please come view your child's art while enjoying a healthy meal!

The next Conscious Discipline/ Loving Guidance workshop will take place on Tuesday March 3rd at 6:30 PM In the Tulita Cafeteria. The session will cover the skill of Choices (building self-esteem and will power) and the power of Free Will (the only person you can make change is yourself).  Life is filled with choices. One of the most fundamental choices is whether to spend energy trying to make others change, or actively change ourselves, our attitudes and our actions. This session will cover the following Choices Principles:

1. The only person you can make change is yourself.       2. Giving your power away sets you up to blame.     3. Ask yourself, "How do I help the child more likely choose to______," rather than, "How can I get the child to_______."            4. Making choices builds willpower and self-esteem.
