Hello Room 19 Families,

My name is Kari Hammerschmitt; welcome to 3rd grade!  Third grade is truly a dynamic year.  We work hard to pack our year with projects, fun lessons, and lots of wonderful opportunities to show off what students have learned. You will be amazed how much your child grows both physically and academically this year!

I grew up in Newport Beach, California, received my Bachelor's Degree from UCSB and my Master's Degree from Pepperdine.  I currently live in Playa Vista.  When I'm not teaching you can find me at CycleBar, at the dog park with my pug Emmy, spending time at the beach or traveling to new and exciting places.

I love teaching and believe in the whole child approach; teaching not just academic skills but social and emotional skills as well.  In this classroom we practice positive thinking, being polite and kind, showing gratitude, and following a Growth Mindset Philosophy.
